On January 25-31, two persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from January 25 to January 31, 2016, at least two people suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; one of them died and another one was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The casualty is an alleged member of the armed underground in Dagestan.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On January 25, at 9:30 a.m. Moscow time the village of Andi, Botlikh District of Dagestan, was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. A group of supposedly three armed persons was blocked in a private house. An offer to surrender was rejected by them; and a shootout broke out. By the evening, the armed clash was over; and the house was badly damaged. As it turned out during removal of debris, one alleged member of the armed underground was killed; and a local resident received shrapnel wounds. On January 27, at 5:30 p.m. Moscow time, the CTO regime in the village of Andi was cancelled.

On January 30, at 6:00 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO legal regime was introduced within the administrative borders of the Buynaksk, Karabudakhkent and Kumtorkalin Districts of Dagestan.

Detentions

On January 25, information was received that a criminal case under Part 5, Article 33, and Part 2, Article 208 (helping members of an illegal armed formation (IAF), which is not envisioned by federal legislation) of the Russian Criminal Code was opened against a 31-year-old resident of Ingushetia. The court ruled to put her into custody. According to investigators, in the period from December 2014 to October 31, 2015, the woman had helped the members of the IAF that operated in the territory of Ingushetia.

On January 28, agents of the Ingush department of the Russian FSB, the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the MIA of Ingushetia detained two alleged members of the interregional criminal grouping, when tried to sell Makarov pistols. Besides, investigators destroyed a shop for making and modernizing weapons, which was found at the residence of one of the members of the grouping.

On January 28, a native of the village of Balakhani, Untsukul District of Dagestan, suspected of belonging to militants, voluntarily surrendered to law enforcers.
