Refusal to cancel elections to Sochi City Assembly appealed against at court
Olga Kozinskaya, a candidate for the City Assembly of Sochi from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), has challenged the judgment to refuse to cancel the election results on constituency No. 9.
On September 13, 2015, residents of Sochi elected their City Assembly. As a result, the Assembly includes 40 deputies from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia), two – from the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), one – from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia), and seven – self-nominated deputies. Electors reported systemic violations before and during the voting, and ignorance of their complaints by election commissions.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 19, the Tsentralny District Court of Sochi dismissed Olga Kozinskaya's lawsuit against the city election commission. Then, in her comment on the judgement, Kozinskaya stated that "it is senseless to appeal against it."
However, later she changed her mind and today submitted a complaint against the above judgement to the Tsentralny District Court of Sochi. According to her story, she "has decided to still fight for her rights."
