Sochi activists summoned to police after pensioners' rally

Four local activists report about summons to district policemen for discussing the circumstances of the pensioners' unsanctioned rally in Sochi. The questioning is conducted on the order of the bosses of city police, said one of district policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 15 Sochi pensioners blocked the street close to the Mayoralty, demanding the return beneficial public transport fares. The Sochi police are searching for the organizers of the pensioners' unauthorized rally and interrogate activists of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). Party members deny their involvement, but support the protesters' demands.

Anatoly Pakhomov, the Mayor of Sochi, went out to the protesting pensioners and said that the city budget has no funds to support the above benefits. However, after pensioners held protests in Krasnodar either, Veniamin Kondratiev, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, signed a law on the return of a number of transport benefits since February 1.

In the context of the search for the organizers of the above rally, Svetlana Mosyakina, an activist of the local neighbourhood named KSM was summoned to the district policeman. The conversation was scheduled for today; however, Mosyakina refused to appear without a written summon. According to her story, summon to the policeman had to do with her participation in protests against the development of the banks of the Sochi River.

David Andreev, a district policeman, has confirmed that on the instruction of his bosses from the Sochi UVD (Interior Department), he is checking the circumstances of organizing the above unsanctioned pensioners' rally.
