Since beginning of year, 49 people fell victim to influenza in Southern Russia

According to the preliminary information, since January 1, 2016, 49 residents of a number of regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) died from complications of influenza. The highest numbers of deaths were registered in the Volgograd Region and Adygea.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the press service of the Governor of the Volgograd Region, as of January 22, in the region, the death toll of pneumonia, resulted from swine flu, reached 11 persons. On January 24, a two-month female baby died at resuscitation ward and became the 12th victim of the disease. The preliminary investigation into the fact of her death is underway, the "V1.ru" reports.

In Adygea, by January 25, the death toll of the swine flu virus reached 11 persons. The authorities of Adygea decided to introduce quarantine in all schools and kindergartens of the republic starting from January 21.

As of the evening of January 25, the death toll of the swine flu in the Rostov Region has reached nine persons.

Since the beginning of 2016, in the Stavropol Territory, according to the Regional Ministry of Public Health, six persons died as a result of complications from influenza, and two other persons died before the New Year.

In Kuban, since the beginning of 2016, four persons died from complications of the influenza, including three residents of Krasnodar and one resident of Armavir.

According to Feizulakh Gabibulaev, Dagestani First Deputy Minister of Public Health, since the beginning of the year, in Dagestan, 82 patients were diagnosed with the swine flu. Of them, five persons died, including one child.

This year, North Ossetia recorded two fatal cases resulted from the swine flu, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the North-Ossetian Ministry of Public Health.
