Sochi protesters demand to strengthen social support of pensioners
The action of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in Sochi ended with adoption of a resolution, in which the protesters state the need to return the preferential public transport fares and reduce tariffs for garbage removal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Sochi Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov urged residents not to go today to the CPRF rally, which was sanctioned by the Mayoralty.
The rally took place from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the square with the monument to Lenin. According to the organizers, it was attended by about 300 people.
"I'm sure it would be 3000, but after the meeting with the Mayor on the eve of the rally, where he promises a better life in 2016', many people decided not to come," Igor Vasiliev, the leader of the local branch of the CPRF, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In total, about 10 speakers addressed the audience, raising the issues of pensioners' low living standards, abolition of preferential travel fares and high tariffs for garbage removal.
At the end of the rally, the participants adopted a resolution with the demands of a full refund of benefits on public transport and establishment of a new tariff for accumulation of solid wastes. Also, the protesters demanded resignation of Russian government.
