In Dagestan, last female resident of Amuzgi village dies

In Dagestan, Patimat Nugaeva, the last resident of the village of Amuzgi, died. After the death of the woman, the village, well-known for the production of cold arms, has become completely empty. The local authorities attract tourists to this village and its neighbourhood to explore the local attractions.

On January 16, the information about the death of the last resident of Amuzgi village was received by the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot". "The last resident of Amuzgi village died," wrote the author of the SMS-message.

Patimat Nugaeva, who lived more than 80 years, died on January 15. Her funeral was held on the same day, and the ceremony was attended by several hundred people. This was reported by Rasul Kurtaev, the former head of the village of Kubachi, located 5 kilometres from Amuzgi.

"Hundreds of people used the only path to come here from the village of Kubachi. They came to Amuzgi to say goodbye to grandmother Patimat, the last resident of the village. She refused to leave the village and to move to her children to other villages and cities. She said: 'This is my home, and here I'm going to die.' I came here together with many others to say goodbye to her. Now, Dagestan has got another empty village. It is a pity!" Rasul Kurtaev said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
