Yke Kyuregyan goes on dry hunger strike

Yke Kyuregyan, sentenced to nine years of imprisonment on the charge of shooting near the courthouse, has refused to drink water.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 14, Yke Kyuregyan declared a hunger strike in support of his cellmate Gevorg Safaryan, who was arrested on the charge of the use of force against a public agent. The protesters have demanded to transfer them into a separate cell. On January 16, the Gevorg Safaryan's demands were fulfilled, and he stopped his hunger strike.

Yke Kyuregyan's refusal to drink water was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by advocate Robert Revazyan, a member of the Observation Group on monitoring in penitentiary institutions.

The advocate has found it difficult to specify the reasons why the activist demands to place him in a separate cell. According to the advocate, Yke Kyuregyan feels satisfactory, but looks exhausted.
