Tenants of collapsed Volgograd house self-organize
Former tenants of the destroyed house in Volgograd have held a meeting, where they adopted the charter of the public organization named "Tragedy at Kosmonavtov 47". It will be engaged protecting the rights of the victims of the explosion.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to the administration of Volgograd, that applications for receiving housing certificates for purchasing new apartments have been submitted by more than half of the 108 families. Earlier, the tenants had stated that the conditions of resettlement from the destroyed multi-storey apartment block did not match the situation in the real estate market.
The organization is chaired by Larisa Borodaeva, a candidate of pedagogics, a former tenant of Apartment 77. The initiative group included 19 people.
People have asked for help with fears that they will not get apartments and sufficient funds to buy them, said the lawyer Yuri Bengardt. He recalled that the authorities offered the tenants of the destroyed house the compensation in the amount of 35,000 roubles per square meter of housing, which, in his view, is "not equal to the market value."
The former tenants of the high-rise house are living with their relatives and friends; some of them have settled in the hotel, where they are satisfied with the living conditions.
A resolution of the Administration of Volgograd has appointed five temporary accommodation sites of victims in hotels, where currently 24 families consisting of 46 people live, the Mayoralty has reported. The hotel accommodation will be paid from the city budget.
