Georgy Kvirikashvili treats tourism and support for private sector as priorities for new Georgian government

In the conditions of the financial crisis, the Georgia's new government should provide economic development of the country and improve the welfare of the population. This was declared by Georgy Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, when he presented the programme of his Cabinet of Ministers. Among the priorities of the programme, the Georgian Prime Minister has mentioned tourism, private business, as well as active cooperation with the EU, the US, and China.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 23, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced his resignation. The parliamentary majority has decided to nominate Deputy Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili, the head of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Georgia. On December 25, President Georgy Margvelashvili introduced Georgy Kvirikashvili to the Parliament as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Georgia.

Georgy Kvirikashvili has declared the economic development and the improvement of welfare of the population as a priority of his Cabinet of Ministers, the "InterpressNews" reports.

The programme provides focusing on the private business sector, including simplification of the mechanisms of its interaction with public agencies.

Furthermore, according to Georgy Kvirikashvili, the economic situation of the country should be influenced by the optimization of the government administration and other public agencies. In particular, Georgy Kvirikashvili has called for the transfer of the Georgian Parliament from Kutaisi to the capital of the country.

In accordance with the programme, the Georgia's foreign policy is aimed to further European integration, including access to the EU market.
