Video with IS militants' threats against Imam Khamzat Chumakov posted on Internet

A video has appeared in social networks, in which masked gunmen are addressing their threats to Khamzat Chumakov, Imam of the Nasyr-Kort mosque, for his anti-IS propaganda. However, Internet users doubt that the authors of the video belong to the militants of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

In the video, two men with covered faces accuse the Imam of encouraging young people not to join the IS and recognizing the legitimacy of the Russian authorities.

Facebook users suspect the authors of the video of a provocation. Thus, the blogger Bagaudin Khautiev believes it strange "to blame Chumakov for his cowardice while hiding the blamer's face."

The blogger does not rule out the "version of staging and an order." recalling that "a few years ago an attempt was undertaken against Chumakov," which was never investigated by law enforcement bodies.

In the opinion of the blogger, those interested in physical liquidation of the Imam may stand behind the video.

A representative of the Nasyr-Kort mosque said that liquidation of Chumakov "may be desirable for certain persons in the republic." He said that they are preparing an appeal "on behalf of the community to law enforcement bodies asking to conduct an inquiry into the above fact."
