In Volgograd, more than 100 schoolchildren provide volunteer help to victims of explosion of residential building

In Volgograd, at an evacuation centre, senior schoolchildren from the school No. 33 rendered assistance to the people affected by the explosion of the residential building. The schoolchildren have announced their willingness to work as volunteers as long as the evacuation centre exists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20 an explosion occurred in a residential building in Volgograd, which destroyed a flight of the building from the second up to the ninth levels. Three deaths have been officially confirmed so far.

Yulia Koshkina, a senior schoolgirl, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she had witnessed the explosion in the house No. 47. According to her, she saw the first flashes of fire and heard the explosion, when she was standing at the window. The girl has also told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent how she rushed to the street with a sheet in her hands and how she together with adults began to catch a boy, who jumped from the third floor.

"The boy was small. We caught him safely. Then, an ambulance brought him to hospital. It was terrible," said Yulia Koshkina.

Volunteer Alexei has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he helps "to carry heavy things."

"We were carrying beds, and we were carrying heavy boxes to the third floor. They say that the evacuation centre will complete its operation on December 23. And I will again come here to help," said Alexei.

His friend Andrei Kochetov has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he is not a pupil of this school. According to him, he came from a different area of the city, when he learned that his friends became volunteers at the evacuation centre.

"We help as we can. I've been here for the second day already. I return home only to go to bed," said Andrei Kochetov.
