Volgograd carriers preparing to resume strike
Volgograd truckers have announced their intention to take part in a repeated stop of work in protest against the "Platon" system.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that truckers from several regions of Russia, including the Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, the Volgograd and Rostov Regions, are protesting against the introduction of the "Platon" system aimed at collecting tolls from trucks for using federal highways.
"On December 18 we arrived back in Volgograd," Alexei Ulyanov, the coordinator of the action, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "However, we haven't stopped striking; now, our priority is to create regional trade unions, which will unite into one newly created association. We'll stand for the total abolition of the 'Platon'. The approximate date of truckers' assembly for the creation of the union is December 25-26."
Ulyanov has noted that not all the Volgograd truckers, who went on a strike, have resumed work. According to his story, December 22 will give start to the second wave of truckers' strike. "It is planned that this time truckers will stop work till the New Year," he said. "An agreement about it was reached at the strike near Moscow. When truckers stop carrying goods; the deficit of them on the eve of the New Year will be felt immediately. I got calls from many dozens of people – they've confirmed that they'd take part in the action."
