Russia's MoJ to exclude "For Human Rights" from registry of "foreign agents"
Before December 31, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Russia will exclude the movement "For Human Rights" from the registry of "foreign agents". This decision is connected with the liquidation of the regional branch of the movement in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), said Lev Ponomaryov, the leader of the movement.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2014 the MoJ found the movement "For Human Rights" to be a non-profit organization (NPO) acting as a "foreign agent". According to Ponomaryov, in July 2015 the MoJ refused to exclude the movement from the registry of "foreign agents", arguing that the KBR's regional branch of the movement had been recognized as a "foreign agent".
Based on the application of the NPO asking to exclude it from the registry, an off-the-schedule documentary check was conducted. It showed that the NPO has ceased to function as a "foreign agent", the "Interfax" writes with reference to the press service of the MoJ.
As of 3:00 a.m. on December 19, the registry of "foreign agents" comprises 88 organizations, including the movement "For Human Rights" – since December 22, 2014.
