Investigators suspect two residents of Chechnya of trying to join militants in Syria
In Chechnya, at the request of the prosecutor's office, investigating authorities have opened a criminal case against two local residents, suspected of their intention to go to Syria and join militants.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya, on December 16, they sent an appropriate presentation to the Investigating Department (ID) for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) demanding to eliminate the violation.
"A few months ago, the young people tried to leave for Syria aiming to join militants, but failed because of some circumstances. Certain pre-inquiry actions were taken against them, but criminal cases were not opened. Now, upon the request of the prosecutor's office, such cases were opened," said the source.
Let us remind you that in August a court in Chechnya sentenced Arbi Dikaev, a 19-year-old local resident, to 5 years in prison for an attempt to go to war in Syria.
