Ecologist Brinikh files complaint to ICRF against power agents

In Adygea, the ecologist Valery Brinikh has appealed to the Investigating Department (ID) for Adygea of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) against the actions of law enforcers when holding their operative- search activities within the criminal case against him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17, 2014, the court found extremist the article by Valery Brinikh "Silence of the Lambs”, dealing with the issue of environmental pollution from the pig-breeding complex in Adygea. On November 16, he was charged with extremism committed by a group of persons.

On December 14, Brinikh applied to the above ID of the ICRF with a demand to prosecute law enforcers for the actions that resulted in the court ruling to tap the ecologist’s telephone calls and personal correspondence.

According to the application of Valery Brinikh, power agents’ arguments of August 6, 2014, caused a substantial violation of his constitutional rights to privacy, phone calls and correspondence.

According to the application, the above ruling had stated that Brinikh, acting under the guise of environment-protection work, had extremist viewpoints and performed actions, aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in the republic. Besides, his actions were qualified as attempts to overthrow the current power in Adygea in violent way.

The ecologist himself declared his non-engagement in illegal activities, and treated the accusation against him as far-fetched.
