Izberbash resident killed in shootout with police
As reported by the Chief Department (ChD) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in Dagestan, a local resident suspected of having links with militants, when policemen tried to check his documents, opened fire and was killed by the return one.
According to the MIA, today the agents of the above ChD for the NCFD for several hours watched the driver of a Volga GAZ-3102 car. When they tried to stop him and check his documents in Chernyshevsky Street in the city of Izberbash, the driver opened fire with a pistol, and then was shot dead by policemen's return shots, reports the press service of the ChD for the NCFD of the MIA.
"The attacker has been identified as a local resident Mukhtar Ismiev, 49," says the message posted on the website of the MIA.
According to law enforcers, Ismiev was an accomplice of one of militant groupings operating in the region, says the above press service.
"The shooter was suspected of recruiting local people into the ranks of extremist thugs," says the "Interfax", citing its law enforcement source.
