Unidentified persons throw stones over Consulate General of Turkey in Novorossiysk
Today, residents of Novorossiysk held a protest action at the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey, the "Interfax-South" reports referring to a source from the city operative services.
On November 24, a Russian Su-24 bomber from Russian Air Force deployed in Syria was attacked by a couple of Turkish F-16 fighters and shot down by an "air-to-air" missile. This led to an aggravation of Russian-Turkish relations. According to Turkey, the bomber had penetrated into the Turkish airspace; the Russian Ministry of Defence denies this fact.
So far, the Chief Department of the Russia's MIA for the Krasnodar Territory has made no comments on the situation and could not specify the number of participants in the protest rally. Eyewitnesses reported that several dozen of citizens appeared at the Consulate General of Turkey with posters condemning its actions and urging the country to stop supporting the Islamic State (IS), which is banned in Russia.
The edition named "Kuban-24" reports that about 200 people gathered near the Consulate General; and some 20 policemen were there to observe the order.
A source from the Turkish Consulate General said that after the rally, some unidentified persons tore and burned down the national flag of Turkey and attacked the building with stones.
