About 500 truckers continue striking near Khasavyurt (+video)

In Dagestan, up to 500 trucks of striking drivers still stay on the highway near Khasavyurt. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Surkhai Alimirzaev, a participant of the protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Dagestan, starting from November 15, truckers are on strike within the framework of the All-Russian protest action, by parking their heavy-duty trucks on the highway shoulders. The strike venues are Khasavyurt, Kizlyar, Kayakent and the village of Manas of the Karabudakhkent District. Power agents are deployed near the venues; and drivers reported detentions of strikers and attempts to disperse the action. It became known today that over 400 drivers of heavy-duty vehicles protesting near the Dagestani village of Kayakent stopped their strike.

Truck drivers from a number of Russian regions are protesting against the system introduced on November 15 for collection of tolls from trucks for the use of roads of federal significance. Carriers treat the tolls as too high and point to the lack of infrastructure for the control over the system "Platon", introduced for collection of tolls.

According to Surkhai Alimirzaev, in general, the situation on the highway near Khasavyurt is calm. "Today (on November 25), none of the officials has visited us. Everything is quiet and calm. People are waiting," Surkhai Alimirzaev has said.

He has noted that on November 30, truck drivers intend to join the all-Russian protest action of drivers of heavy vehicles. "We will go to Moscow to go on with our protest there," Surkhai Alimirzaev has stated.

According to him, as at the morning of November 25, the most mass event in Dagestan was hold near the villages of Kayakent and Manas, which involved drivers of up to 1000 trucks.

Till present, no comments of the authorities concerning the statement made by the protester are available to the "Caucasian Knot".
