At least 150 truckers continue their protest at Khasavyurt
Drivers of heavy trucks are going to stay with their trucks near Khasavyurt, until the issue with the "Platon" system is not settled in their favour, the protesters against the system of levying tolls on federal highways have declared.
Truck drivers from a number of Russian regions, including the Volgograd Region, protest against the system introduced on November 15 for collection of tolls from trucks for the use of roads of federal significance. Carriers treat the tolls as too high and point to the lack of infrastructure for the control over the system "Platon", introduced for collection of tolls.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Dagestan, starting from November 15, truckers are on strike within the framework of the All-Russian protest action, by parking their heavy-duty trucks on the highway shoulders. The strike venues are Khasavyurt, Kizlyar, Kayakent and the village of Manas of the Karabudakhkent District. Power agents are deployed near the venues; and drivers reported detentions of strikers and attempts to disperse the action.
As of 5:30 p.m. Moscow time, between Khasavyurt and the village of Toturbiykala, there were at least 150 trucks on the shoulder of the federal highway.
According to the protesters, they are going to stay there, "until the problem is solved in their favour."
"If today we allow certain oligarchs to plunder us, then their children will also scoff at our children. We'll not allow that," the protesters say.
According to Dagestani truckers, they hope for an adequate reaction from the president of Russia.
