Truck drivers report on dispersal of protest action in Babayurt (+video)
Law enforcers have dispersed truck drivers on protest in Babayurt, and some of them were detained by policemen. The protest action continues in other localities of Dagestan, the truck drivers report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 15, in Dagestan, truck drivers started a week-long strike in the Karabudakhkent and Kayakent Districts.
Russian truck drivers are protesting against the system "Platon", introduced on November 15 to collect tolls from trucks with a total weight of 12 tonnes or over for the use of federal highways.
Law enforcers have dispersed the protesters in Babayurt. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by advocate Biyakai Magomedov, who was contacted by the protestors seeking advice.
"I was just (at 8:20 p.m., note of the 'Caucasian Knot') contacted by truck drivers via phone. They told me that their protest action had been dispersed by an investigative team. They were brought to the police station and then released, and they went in the direction of Kizlyar," Biyakai Magomedov has said.
The protest action of truck drivers, which is going on in Dagestan, involves about one thousand cars in five locations of the republic. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Sukhrai Alimirzaev, one of the protesters.
