Caspian Fleet launches 18 missiles against IS targets
Four warships of the Caspian Fleet have shelled Syrian positions of the "Islamic State" (IS) with long-range missiles "Calibre". This was reported by Sergey Shoygu, Russian Minister of Defence, to the Russian President.
"On November 20, warships of the Caspian Fleet fired 18 cruise missiles against seven targets in the provinces of Raqqah, Idlib, and Aleppo. All the targets are struck," Sergey Shoygu has reported as quoted by the "Interfax".
"In general, in the course of the air operation, cruise missiles were fired from the water zones of the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas to a distance of 1500 km, and the aircrafts started from the air facilities in the territories of Russia and Syria. From the Caspian Sea, air strikes were delivered by 29 aircrafts of long-range and bomber forces," Sergey Shoygu has reported.
According to him, over the past four days, the Russian forces launched 101 sea- and air-based cruise missiles.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from September 30, the Russian air forces deliver air strikes against targets in Syria. According to the Russian authorities, the air strikes are delivered against the positions of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier, ISIL), recognized in Russia, the United States, and a number of other countries throughout the world as a terrorist organization.
