Eyewitnesses report on victims of fight at mosque of Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, law enforcers pretended to be mosque-goers and entered the territory of the mosque in Kotrov Street together with staff members of the Dagestani Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM). Then, the law enforcers were involved in a fight. This was reported by witnesses.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Dagestani SAM has appointed the Imam, elected at the today's meeting, to the mosque in Kotrov Street in Makhachkala. The mosque is visited by followers of the Salafi concept of Islam, and they have declared the forcible dismissal of the current Imam and power capture of the mosque.

After the new Imam had been introduced at the mosque, a clash occurred, and 10-15 mosque-goers were beaten. This was reported by one of the mosque-goers.

Both outside and inside the mosque, law enforcers are controlling "the introduction of the new Imam." This is reported by a staff member of the mosque in Kotrov Street. According to him, earlier, the similar power method had been used to dismiss Akhmad Anchikhsky, the Imam in a small village mosque in Ordzhonikidze Street.

Let us remind you that today, believers of the mosques located in Kotrov Street and Hungarian Fighters Street in Makhachkala, also reported the detentions of mosque-goers by law enforcers. Officials from the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that the mosque-goers were brought to the OVD (Interior Division) for their identification.
