Members of Karachays' Congress demand to stop cronyism and corruption in KChR

The Congress of the Karachay people was attended by about 200 delegates and guests from Cherkessk, Karachaevsk, and the Zelenchuk, Malokarachay, Karachay, and Prikuban Districts. Participants of the Congress demanded from the authorities to eradicate problems of cronyism and corruption.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the public organization "Union of Karachay Youth" announced holding the Congress in Cherkessk on November 13. The participants of the Congress expressed their intention to criticize the actions of the authorities of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) and discuss the issues of social and economic development of the territories. The organizers of the Congress reported on the authorities' attempt to disrupt the event.

The KChR faces an acute problem of migration of Karachays. This was reported by Nyurlyu Gerbek, a member of the organization "Karachay Alan Khalk".

"Every year, 500 Karachay natives leave the republic. There are no prospects for development and promotion, and there are no jobs," he said.

Azret-Ali Abazaliev, a former staff member of the Chief bureau of medical and social examination for the KChR, has reported on the dismissal of 27 experts. According to him, former staff members of the organization face lawsuits on defamations.

At the Congress, the participants have also discussed the problems of agriculture and raised the issue of the poor situation of former workers of the Turgenev market in Cherkessk, which burned down in August 2014. Besides, they have also discussed the problem of cronyism and land issues.
