Azerbaijan: relatives of soldier Siradjly demand to investigate cause of his death

Mukhammed Siradjly, a soldier of the Azerbaijani Army, has been found dead. Officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) claim that the soldier has committed suicide. Relatives of the young man deceased during his military service do not believe the version of his suicide.

On November 7, 19-year-old soldier Mukhammed Siradjly was found dead in a military unit in the Tovuz District. On the same day, relatives of the soldier were contacted by officials from the military unit by phone, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Fikret Israfilov, an uncle of the deceased soldier.

"Officials from the military unit have informed us that the Mukhammed's body was sent to the hospital No. 3 in the city of Ganja. When we arrived to the hospital, my nephew's body was placed to the morgue. We looked at his body and noticed three gunshot wounds... We also noticed dark spots on the right side of his chest, his lips, and his neck. And we failed to find any official who could give clear answers to our questions," Fikret Israfilov has noted.

He has emphasized that the family members will seek the objective investigation into the death of the soldier and the punishment of the guilty persons.

On November 9, the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD, in its turn, reported that in connection with the death of Mukhammed Malik oglu, born in 1996, a soldier of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Gazakh District had instituted a criminal case and an investigation into the case.
