"Rosbalt": Chief of Chechen UVD to be questioned on Boris Nemtsov's murder

In Boris Nemtsov murder case, investigators have summoned for questioning Vakha Geremeev, Chief of the UVD (Interior Department) for the Shelkovskaya District, a step-brother of Ruslan Geremeev. This was reported by the "Rosbalt" with reference to a source familiar with the investigation progress.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev. On March 9, the "Kommersant" reported with reference to its sources that in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, the investigating bodies instructed field investigators to find Ruslan Geremeev for questioning as a witness. Later, the media reported that he left Russia. On May 22, the "Kommersant" reported on the new suspect in the case - Ruslan Mukhudinov, a resident of Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in mid-October, it became known that investigators planned to question in Chechnya the colleagues of the defendants in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, as well as their relatives and friends. On November 2, the investigators began to question fighters from the battalion "Sever" (North) and relatives of the defendants in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder.

According to a source familiar with the progress of the investigation into the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, during the recent several days, the investigators summoned for questioning "three or four members of each family related to Ruslan Geremeev." In total, about 20 people were summoned for questioning.

The investigators of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) asked the persons summoned for questioning whether Ruslan Geremeev told them anything about Boris Nemtsov, when they saw him for recent time, and whether they knew anything about the current whereabouts of Ruslan Geremeev, the source has noted.

Following all the questionings and the analysis of the information received, the ICRF will determine the procedural status of Ruslan Geremeev: whether he will remain a suspect or whether he will be charged in absentia. This has been reported today by the news agency with reference to the source familiar with the investigation progress.
