In Sochi, Khavazh Temirsultanov sentenced to one year of imprisonment
The Adler District Court has sentenced Khavazh Temirsultanov, a native of Chechnya, to one year of imprisonment on charge of assaulting a pensioner. Earlier, Khavazh Temirsultanov has denied his guilt. However, at the trial, he pleaded guilty.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2014, Khavazh Temirsultanov was detained in Sochi on charges of assaulting a pensioner Arthur Zadelnikov. The young man himself pleaded not guilty, and the victim stated that the defendant was not involved in the assault.
At the trial, the victim insisted that Khavazh Temirsultanov did not rob him and asked "to immediately release Khavazh Temirsultanov from the courtroom."
"Although I did not rob the pensioner, I pleaded guilty, since I knew that a confession would mitigate the punishment," said Khavazh Temirsultanov after the verdict had been pronounced.
Taisiya Temirsultanova, the mother of the defendant, also believes that her son is not guilty. According to the woman, she has a bad heart, her "husband is a disabled man, who lost his legs", and their son is their "only breadwinner."
The verdict can enter into force on November 15.
