On October 26-November 1, seven persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of October 26 to November 1, 2015, seven persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, six persons were killed and one more was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
All the six casualties are alleged members of the armed underground: four in Dagestan, and two in Ingushetia.
Attacks on law enforcers
On October 28, in the outskirt of the village of Chabanmakhi in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan law enforcers stopped a VAZ-2107 car for document check. But its passengers opened fire on power agents. Four suspected militants were killed by response fire.
On October 31, law enforcers were carrying out their operative actions in the marketplace in Nazran. Policemen tried to detain two men; they rendered armed resistance and were killed in the shootout. The casualties were identified as Beslan Makhauri, the leader of the militants of the Sunzha District, and Ilyas Vedzizhev, the leader of the "Nazran" grouping. In the course of detention, Leyla Chemurzieva, who acted as militants' liaison, was wounded; she is the widow of Tachiev, the slain former active member of the armed underground. She was taken under guard and placed into one of the city hospitals.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On October 27, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, introduced on September 28 in the territory of the Derbent, Kurakh, Magaramkent, Suleiman-Stalsky, Tabasaran and Khiv Districts of Dagestan, was cancelled. It was introduced in connection with search for militants and covered the territory populated by about 200,000 people. The CTO regime within the administrative boundaries of the Derbent District was introduced on October 15.
On October 27, in the village of Gimry of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, the CTO regime, introduced there on October 24, was cancelled. The restrictions imposed in connection with the special operation, which resulted in the murder of Abdula Nustafaev, have been lifted.
Detentions
On October 26, employees of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), acting jointly with their colleagues from the MIA of Dagestan, conducted a search of a private house in the village of Novokayakent of the Kayakent District. The policemen found there a grenade, a pistol, narcotic drugs, and extremist religious literature. A criminal case was opened under Articles 222 (illegal possession of firearms) and 228 (illegal possession of narcotic drugs) of the Russian Criminal Code. The house owner was brought to the police station.
On October 30, information was received from local residents that in Grozny and other large cities of in Chechnya power agents detained dozens of young people for wearing beards with shaved off moustaches. The authorities in Chechnya believe that wearing a beard and shaving moustaches is one of the attributes of belonging to the Salafi trend of Islam.
