IEDs discovered at Islamic educational institution in Dagestan
In Derbent, in the course of a search carried out at an Islamic educational institution, policemen found two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), weapons, and ammunition. Four persons were detained.
According to the police, during the search, field investigators found two IEDs with striking elements represented by bolts and nuts, a home-made pistol with a silencer and a full magazine, ammunition, Islamic books, materials of religious content, financial and accounting documents concerning the receipt and the distribution of money.
Besides, during the search in the house and yard, the law enforcers encountered two local residents and a former soldier of a military unit, who retired in August. All of them together with the owner of the house were brought to the police station.
The activities of the educational institution, in which law enforcers found explosive substances and ammunition, was stopped by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan yet in March 2015, reports the website of the Chief Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
