Student suspected of promotion of terrorism receives no medical care in SIZO, his representatives complain
After the surgery on extraction of a ballpoint pen from his eye socket, Magomed Aliev, a fifth-year student of the Stavropol Medical Academy, accused of promoting terrorism, complains of headaches. Meanwhile, he does not receive adequate medical care. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Amina Alieva, a sister of the defendant.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Aliev, a 22-year-old student of the Stavropol Medical Academy, was detained in Moscow on November 21, 2014. On November 24, in Stavropol, he was taken into custody; however, on November 27, he was hospitalized to a local hospital in serious condition. Surgeons removed a ballpoint pen from an eye of the detained young man, which injured his brain, and diagnosed the damage to his internal organs. Officials from the Stavropol Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) have reported that Magomed Aliev committed a suicide attempt.
"At present, Magomed is being kept at the Stavropol SIZO (pre-trial prison). Investigator has promised that Magomed will be examined by a neurologist and an ophthalmologist and that he will be again subjected to a tomography examination. However, they do nothing. The advocate have filed a lot of letters; however, they do not react," Amina Alieva has said.
She has also reported that till present, they "do not know for sure what happened at a SIZO cell," from where Magomed Aliev was urgently hospitalized with a wound into his brain with a ballpoint pen penetrating through his eye hole.
Magomed Aliev needs a comprehensive medical examination. This was confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by advocate Olga Kamilova.
"His health state is very poor. I have repeatedly filed motions to subject him to medical examination; however, nobody responded. The only thing I should note is that he is given medicines from which he gets incomprehensible euphoria, and he feels not adequately after them," advocate Olga Kamilova has said.
