Vera Savchenko withdrawn from case of Karpyuk and Klykh

Today, the judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, who is considering the criminal case against the citizens of Ukraine Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh, found the behaviour of Vera Savchenko, who is acting as the public defender in the case, disrespectful to the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 26, in Grozny, the court started hearing on the merits in the case against Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh accused of involvement in the combat actions in the territory of Chechnya. According to the defendants' advocates, investigators failed to provide evidence for the involvement of Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh in the combat actions in Chechnya.

According to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), in the early 1990s, in the territory of Ukraine, a radical right-wing military political organization "UNA-UNSO" was founded. Ukrainian citizens Nikolai Karpyuk, Stanislav Klykh, Alexander Malofeev, Alexander Muzychko, and other persons became members of the "UNA-UNSO". The Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has recognized the "UNA-UNSO" an extremist organization and its activities are prohibited on the territory of Russia.

During the today's session, the judge made several remarks to Savchenko for her incorrect, in his opinion, behaviour in the courtroom. The judge warned her that it is not acceptable to voice out her opinion from her seat. After the judge made his final warning, the violation happened again. Then, the judge decided to remove Savchenko from the list of advocates for "tactless attitude to the court" and ordered to drive her out of the courtroom.

While gathering her belongings, Vera Savchenko has loudly declared that "Russia should not interfere with Ukraine's internal affairs." Before she left the courtroom the judge heard a harsh word and ordered to draw up an administrative protocol against Savchenko for insulting the judge.

"I said nothing offensive to the judge," Vera Savchenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and expressed her surprise that a protocol was drawn up against her for insulting the judge.
