Novokayakent Imam arrested for two months

Today, the court has chosen, in respect of Imam Isa Koitemirov from the village of Novokayakent, the measure of freedom restriction in the form of two-month custody, a source from the Kayakent District Court told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Koitemirov is arrested until December 25," said the source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Isa Koitemirov was detained on October 25. Officially, he is charged with illicit circulation of weapons, explosives and narcotic drugs. According to the advocate hired by his relatives, the Imam has confessed under a threat of being prosecuted for links with militants.

According to Vladimir Korkhalyov, the advocate, today he was not admitted again to the detention facility to meet his client.

"Once again, I prepared an application to the Prosecutor's Office about my non-admission; I plan to send it by email. Tomorrow I'll try again to meet Isa. So far, there is no response to our application about non-admission to Koitemirov," Vladimir Korkhalyov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Employees of the Kayakent ROVD (District Interior Division) refuse to comment on Koitemirov's case. "The information cannot be disclosed," an official of the ROVD told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
