Local MPs complain about beatings during rally in Buynaksk

During the dispersal of the rally in Buynaksk, seven deputies of the local City Assembly suffered and lodged their written complaints against policemen to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), FSB and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), said one of the deputies Gasan Malikov. The spokeswoman of the MIA stated, in her turn, that seven participants of the rally will be brought to administrative responsibility.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 16 the police did not allow the public to hold a meeting with deputies of the City Assembly from the "Party of Russian Veterans". The dispersal of the rally ended with detentions.

"On Friday, after clashes with the police, about 10 people were detained. On the following day, policemen used video records to identify those who attended the rally, and invited them to the station. They were asked about why they had come to the rally and why they had violated the public order. As far as we know, they summoned about 15 people to the police," said Gasan Malikov, a deputy of the City Assembly from the above party.

According to his story, more than 10 persons suffered during the clashes; one of them was hospitalized.

On September 20, at a rally of supporters of the "Party of Russian Veterans" the demand was announced to appoint Osman Osmanov, a member of the party, to the post of Mayor of Buynaksk. Now, the post is occupied by Gusein Gamzatov, a member of the "Edinaya Rossia" (United Russia) Party, who was elected at the extraordinary session of the City Assembly on September 8.
