In Armenia, workers of "Vanadzor-Khimprom" receive their wages for two months

In Armenia, managers of the chemical complex "Vanadzor-Khimprom", which owes to its workers the wages for nine months, have paid the wage arrears for two months. The rest of the debt is planned to be repaid until December 15.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported on September 7, workers of the chemical complex "Vanadzor-Khimprom" organized a protest action with the demand to repay the arrears of wages for nine months. The total wage arrears amounted to about 366 million drams (more than 750,000 US dollars). On September 13, the protest actions were suspended after the government had promised to assist in resolving the issue of payment of the wage arrears.

According to Shahke Arakelyan, the press secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the workers of the chemical complex "Vanadzor-Khimprom" have already been paid their wages for two months.

"The wage arrears for two months are paid from the funds gained from the sale of the residual products of the enterprise," Shahke Arakelyan has said.

Earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has instructed Ervand Zakharyan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, to prepare a timetable for full repayment of wage arrears to the workers of the "Vanadzor-Khimprom" until the end of the year.
