In case of Murat Borlakov's death, prosecution witness receives new threats, advocate of victim party reports

In the case of the death of detainee Murat Borlakov at the OVD (Interior Division) for the Ust-Dzheguta, a witness for the prosecution has received new death threats because of testifying against the defendants in the case. This was reported by an advocate of the victim party. Earlier, the witness himself has reported about the threats against him. The court has made a decision to re-question him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 15, at the court session in the case of the death of Murat Borlakov, a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, prosecution witness Murat Abaikhanov reported that in September 2014, he received threats with the demand to retract his testimony. The court also announced the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, according to which Murat Borlakov's wrists bore signs of handcuffs. The court pronounced the decision to re-question the policemen, who earlier denied reports about the use of handcuffs.

On February 3, 2014, Murat Borlakov together with his two friends was brought to the Interior Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Ust-Dzheguta District. He died an hour after his detention. According to his friends, Murat Borlakov was subjected to torture.

Pavel Misharin, an advocate representing the victim party, has added that the complaints about the crime have been prepared and they are to be sent to the Prosecutor of Karachay-Cherkessia, the Chief of the Investigating Department for Karachay-Cherkessia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), and the Chief of the Karachay-Cherkessian MIA.

According to the Office of the Ust-Dzheguta District Court, the next court hearing is scheduled for October 29.

Earlier, Soslan Zhigunov, another witness of the Murat Borlakov's death, had also received threats.
