In Azerbaijan, opposition complains about reduction of opportunities for election campaign

At the elections to the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, opposition candidates are refused in registration. The opposition is also deprived of access to TV shows and other opportunities for election campaigning. This was reported by members of the parties.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 28, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev signed a resolution to schedule the next elections to the National Assembly for November 1.

The elections involve 15 political parties and one block of political parties "Freedom 2015".

Among the opposition parties, the "Musavat" Party has nominated the most representative group of candidates for deputies 25. However, according to Gulaga Aslanly, the head of the executive office and the central electoral headquarters of the "Musavat" Party, almost two-thirds of candidates "were not registered on far-fetched pretexts."

Gulaga Aslanly has said that "this is the first election campaign in Azerbaijan, when the opposition is denied the access to TV shows." He has also reported on the obstacles for meetings of deputy candidates with voters.

Out of eight candidates of the youth movement "Nida", only two were registered. Ulvi Gasanli, one of the leaders of the movement "Nida", is now challenging at courts the refusal to register him.
