South Ossetian MP refutes allegations of pressure on NCOs
The authorities of South Ossetia do not seek the elimination of the NCO sector in the republic. This was stated by Amiran Dyakonov, an MP from the People's Party, one of the developers of the current NCO law.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, the "Association for Social, Economic and Cultural Development of South Ossetia" (ASECD) and the Women's Association "For Democracy and Human Rights" announced preparing packages of documents on self-liquidation. Thereby, according to Dina Alborova and Lira Kozaeva, the leaders of the above NCOs, they protest against the authorities' pressure on NCOs of the republic.
According to Amiran Dyakonov, the authorities of South Ossetia have no relation to the closure of the above NOCs. He has emphasized that the authorities should border the society from harmful interference of Western foundations and unfair funding through NCOs.
The MP stands for precise control over the activities of non-governmental organizations in the republic. According to him, by adopting the new law on NCOs, the authorities were trying to achieve more precise public regulation of activities of NCOs and detailed reports from non-governmental sector.
