Investigators refuse to reclassify case of Boris Nemtsov's murder

The motion to reclassify the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder to Article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Attempt on the life of a state or public figure". This was reported by Vadim Prokhorov, an advocate of the Nemtsov's family members.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 14, Vadim Prokhorov appealed to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) with a motion of Zhanna Nemtsova, a daughter of Boris Nemtsov, to reclassify the case of her father's murder from Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder) to more serious Article 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt on the life of a state or public figure).

The ICRF has dismissed the motion, the RIA "Novosti" quotes Vadim Prokhorov as reporting. The advocate has noted that the maximum sentence stipulated by Articles 105 and 277 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is life imprisonment; meanwhile, the minimum sentence stipulated by Article 105 is six years of imprisonment and by Article 277 12 years of imprisonment.
