Taita Yunusova: I was never kidnapped
Taita Yunusova, a Chechen human rights defender, whose kidnapping was reported at night of October 10, is at home. According to her, she spent that night with her sick female relative.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the kidnapping of Taita Yunusova, the head of the Chechen regional public organization "The Live Thread", who appeared in the documentary film "Grozny Blues", was reported by screenwriter Lucia Sgueglia. According to her, on October 10, the human rights defender was kidnapped from the house of her relatives near Grozny. Lucia Sgueglia suggested that the kidnapping of Taita Yunusova may be related to her role in the documentary film "Grozny Blues". In the evening of October 10, a colleague of Taita Yunusova reported that the woman was allowed to go home.
On October 11, Kheda Saratova, the head of the Chechen news agency "Objective", reported that Taita Yunusova is alive and well. Taita Yunusova herself also states that no kidnapping took place.
"I visited the cancer centre to care for my aunt. I learned the information from the relatives, like other people," says Taita Yunusova in the video, posted on the website of the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel.
