Moscow opens monument to Boris Nemtsov and exhibition of his portraits on his birthday

On the whole day of October 9, despite the cloudy weather, people were carrying candles, flowers, and posters to the place of the Boris Nemtsov's murder on Big Moskvoretsky Bridge, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. At the curb, people installed a sign reading: "Nemtsov's Bridge" and dozens of the politician's photos. Next to many of the portraits, people placed posters with quotes from Boris Nemtsov's speeches.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27 in Moscow. In connection with the crime, five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were detained, namely: Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Shagid Gubashev.

At 2:00 p.m., a monument to Boris Nemtsov was opened at his grave at Troekurov cemetery. The monument represents a block of granite with the engraved name of the killed politician and attached piece of granite with traces of five bullets. The opening of the monument, which was not widely advertised, was attended mostly by family members, friends, and colleagues of Boris Nemtsov.

At 7:00 p.m., the Zverev Centre of Contemporary Art opened the exhibition "Nemtsov's Bridge." It presents portraits of Boris Nemtsov made by artist Lena Hades and about 150 photos of people on duty around the clock at the memorial to Boris Nemtsov at the place of his murder. The exhibition will run until October 13.
