Makhachkala resident detained on suspicion of involvement in the IS

Law enforcement bodies suspect Murtazaliev, a resident of Dagestan, of involvement in warfare in Syria.

"Islamic State" (IS, earlier - ISIL) is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia, the USA, Turkey, and a number of other countries.

According to a source from the power structures of Dagestan, from August to December 2014, Murtazaliev was in Syria and took part in hostilities on the side of the "Islamic State” (IS).

The source has noted that, according to Murtazaliev himself, he was trained for suicide bombing. "The detainee said that he was afraid of committing a suicide bombing; therefore, he returned to his homeland," the RIA "Novosti" quoted today the source as saying, adding that law enforcement bodies are finding out whether Murtazaliev had planned to go back to Syria.
