Eyewitnesses of CTO in Chechnya state power agents refused to evacuate children

During the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Grozny, power agents did not evacuate the children of the kindergarten, located next to the blocked nine-storey building, said parents of the pre-schoolers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 8 the Staropromyslovskiy District of Grozny was put under the CTO regime. According to official data, during this CTO, three alleged members of the armed underground were killed; and three power agents were wounded.

The armed clash in the neighbourhood of Mayakovskiy took place in a residential area. Directly next to the attacked nine-storey building there is another nine-storey one, several five-storey houses, and a kindergarten.

"The kindergarten is a few hundred meters from No. 142, where power agents conducted their CTO. But the policemen not only failed to evacuate anybody from the kindergarten, but wouldn’t let parents there, who want to take their kids out of dangerous zone. It was a real panic, because nobody knew what was going on," Raisa, a resident of Mayakovskiy, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Power agents did not evacuate the pre-schoolers out of the kindergarten adjacent to the blocked dwelling house, another resident of the Staropromyslovskiy District confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" on condition of anonymity.

"When the CTO was over; and parents were let into the kindergarten, two young mothers fainted, when they saw their children – they suffered and were nervous so much. And on TV they said that there was evacuation – it’s not true," said the resident of the Staropromyslovskiy District.
