Residents of Southern Dagestan report no restrictions because of CTO regime

In Dagestan, the search for members of the armed underground in the territories of the Kurakh, Magaramkent, Suleiman-Stalsky, Tabasaran, and Khiv Districts is still underway. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source from the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the evening of September 29.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 28, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the territories of five districts of Dagestan.

The source did not disclose the date of cancellation of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. "The decision on introduction and cancellation of the CTO regime is to be made by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC)," said the MIA's official.

The "Caucasian Knot" has been told by a woman from the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan that the situation in the district is quiet. According to the woman, local residents do not feel the effect of the CTO regime.

"The situation in Kasumkent and, as far as I know, in other villages of the district is quiet. No restrictions are imposed. All schools, kindergartens, shops, and clinics are open," said the local woman.

According to her, the introduction of the CTO regime was not officially announced.

Elnara G., a resident of the Magaramkent District of Dagestan, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that residents of their district also do not feel the effect of the CTO regime.

"Yesterday (on September 28), I and my husband peacefully left for Derbent, and no one stopped us on the road. The situation in the district centre is also quiet, and all the people live their everyday lives," the woman has noted.
