Seven Ingush residents accused of banditry and attacks on policemen

In Ingushetia, the investigating authorities have completed the investigation into a number of criminal cases against seven Ingush residents. In particular, the defendants are charged with acts of banditry, involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs), and attacks on law enforcers.

The investigators have made a conclusion that the defendants manufactured improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which in 2014 were planted at the doors of several Karabulak shops, engaged in selling of alcohol-containing products. However, the IEDs did not detonate, since they were promptly detected by citizens and defused by policemen.

Besides, in September 2014, the suspected IAF members planted an IED at a gate of a policeman's house. It was detected by the very policeman and defused by specialists of the OMON (riot police) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 21, 2014, policemen tried to stop a VAZ-2199 car to check the documents of the driver and the passengers. In the course of the chase, the passengers of the car opened fire. As a result, an OMON fighter and a suspected militant were killed.

Later, law enforcers have managed to identify the suspected militant and six suspected members of the IAF and their accomplice, who were detained. The court pronounced the decision on the pre-trial restriction measure and took the suspects in custody.
