Two natives of Caucasus suspected of assassination attempt on MJHR's Director

A resident of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan and a native of Chechnya have been detained and taken into custody as persons suspected of an assassination attempt on the Director of the Museum of the Jewish History in Russia (MJHR) in Moscow.

On July 16, Sergey Ustinov, Director of the MJHR, was attacked in northern Moscow. A stranger came up to Sergey Ustinov, shot in his head from a traumatic pistol and fled. The driver of Sergey Ustinov witnessed the assassination attempt.

Sergey Ustinov is also a member of the Presidium of the Russian Jewish Congress and the director of a real estate agency, the "Russian Dialogue" reports.

Today, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported on the detention of three persons suspected of the assassination attempt. Two of them are natives of Northern Caucasus. A 23-year-old resident of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan is involved in the case as a direct perpetrator of the crime. Earlier, a 29-year-old native of Chechnya and a 26-year native of the Tyumen Region have been detained in Moscow, and they are suspected of involvement in the assassination attempt, the website of the Russian MIA reports.

At the request of members of the Russian Jewish Congress, the case of the attack on Sergey Ustinov is taken under the special control by the chiefs of the Russian law enforcement bodies.
