Prosecutor's Office promises to study demands of Akhtubinsk hunger-strikers

Today, in Akhtubinsk, an official from the Prosecutor's Office of the Akhtuba District has met the hunger-strikers demanding full payment of wage arrears from municipal enterprise (ME) "Akhtuba ATP" (auto transport company). Seven persons continue the hunger strike.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that workers of the ME "Akhtuba ATP" did not receive their wages for more than one year, and they were also deprived of their dismissal compensation. Today, at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time, the workers began their hunger strike at the public reception room of a deputy of the Duma for the Astrakhan Region.

Today, at about 2:00 p.m. local time, Sergey Svidovsky, Deputy Prosecutor of the Akhtubinsk District, met the participants of the protest action and recorded their demands.

Earlier, according to the Prosecutor's Office, its officials have repeatedly inspected the ME "Akhtuba ATP".

"During 2012-2015, the Prosecutor's Office sent to the head of the ME 'Akhtuba ATP' the resolutions to eliminate violations of the law... The materials to address the issue on opening criminal cases have been sent to the investigating authorities," the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Akhtubinsk District reports.

It is also noted that the Prosecutor's Office has "made the ME 'Akhtuba ATP' to repay wage arrears in the amount of 6,115,000 roubles."

Amanga Naruzbaev, Mayor of Akhtubinsk, has stated that the demands of the Akhtubinsk hunger-strikers to pay their wages are fair. However, according to the Mayor of Akhtubinsk, the budget is short of funds to pay off the wage arrears.
