"No to robbery!" announces new protests in Armenian cities

On September 11, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Spitak, Ashtarak, and Yerevan will hold protest actions against the increase in electricity tariff. However, the Yerevan Mayor's Office crossed out Bagramyan Avenue from the planned route of the rally-march. This was reported by Maxim Sargsyan, a member of the initiative group "No to robbery!"

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 1, in Yerevan, protest actions were organized by members of the initiative group "No to robbery!" and the movement "Arise, Armenia!" These associations stand for the complete cancellation of the increase in electricity tariff. On September 5, in Yerevan, rally participants called on city residents to urge the Armenian President to resign.

The Yerevan Mayor's Office took note of the notification on holding a rally on September 11 submitted by the initiative group "No to robbery!" and crossed out Bagramyan Avenue from the planned route of the march, Maxim Sargsyan reported.

According to him, the activists will "use the whole 'arsenal' of peaceful disobedience actions not prohibited by the law" and will "achieve the cancellation of the increase in electricity tariff, despite the fact that the authorities have managed to split the protest movement."

On September 11, the protest actions will be held not only in Yerevan, but also in a number of other Armenian cities. This was announced by Artush Chibukhchyan, a member of the initiative group "No to robbery!"

Migran Avagyan, a member of the initiative group "No to robbery!", has claimed being persecuted by a "new district police inspector." According to the activist, policemen also visited the house of Rima Sargsyan, another member of the initiative group "No to robbery!", as well as houses of her neighbours.
