Group of NKR volunteers goes to Tavush Region of Armenia
100 volunteers from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) will carry out their combat duty in the Tavush Region of Armenia, where armed incidents on the border have become more frequent. The group of volunteers went to Armenia for three days; but they are ready to stay there longer.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since early September the parties in Karabakh conflict are reporting about incidents on the Tavush section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. On September 1, two soldiers were wounded there; on September 2 two civilians suffered from the warfare. On September 3, the murder of the soldier Ayk Devoyan was reported; and on September 4 the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that four people had been wounded on the border, while their counterpart from the NKR stated about the death of two soldiers.
The group of 100 volunteers that today left Stepanakert for the Tavush Region of Armenia is led by Samvel Karapetyan, the head of the Union of Veterans of the Karabakh War in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the NKR's Prime Minister Arayik Arutyunyan, as Edik Khachatryan, head of the administration of the Union of Veterans, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Initially, we plan to stay there for three days, but if necessary, we are ready to protect the border of Armenia for a longer term," said the veteran.
