Session on murder of Malik Akhmedilov scheduled for September 9
Dagestan will hold a new trial of the murder case of journalist Malik Akhmedilov, which will be more open than the first one. The court has allowed making photo and video recording of the sessions, while most of the first trial was held behind closed doors.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 30, by the outcomes of the trial on the murder of Akhmedilov, the defendants Murad Shuaibov and Isa Abdurakhmanov were sentenced to 10.5 and 8 years in prison, accordingly. But on July 15, the Supreme Court of Dagestan cancelled the sentence and sent the case for retrial. On September 2, the Leninsky District Court of Makhachkala held the first session of the re-trial.
The next sessions is scheduled for September 9, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed on September 4 at the office of the above court.
"On September 2, a number of motions was put forward, including the permit granted to make photo and video recording at sessions; the both parties in the trial have supported the initiative. Also, the father of Malik Akhmedilov was interrogated," Rustam Yunusov, the advocate of the defendants, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
