Residents of Dagestan refute IS' statement about successful special operation

The information about a successful attack of militants of the "Islamic State" (IS) declared to be a terrorist organization, on Russian military barracks in Southern Dagestan, near the village of Magaramkent, was posted on September 2 on the website of the SITE Intelligence Group. This non-profit organization (NPO), registered in the United States, monitors the activities of terrorist groupings on the Internet.

However, local law enforcement sources and residents do not confirm the information about the attack. The Magaramkent District houses a frontier unit of the Russian FSB; there are no military units in the district, locals have noted.

"Nobody has attacked the border guards; and there are no other military or police units in the district. There is an FSB base in the village of Belidji, Derbent District, but there, too, nobody heard about the attack," a local told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

There were no attacks on militaries or policemen fixed in the Magaramkent District, except for the shootout on August 29, a local law enforcement source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. Two suspected militants were killed in the shootout.

Residents of the village Magaramkent also have no information about the attack on militaries, a villager told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
