About 200 protesters take part in march in central Yerevan (+video)
In Yerevan, the march in support of detained activists of the civil movement "Arise, Armenia!" has finished without any incidents. According to organizers, the protest action was attended by more than 200 people.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 1, in Yerevan, the protest actions against the increase in electricity tariff were held by members of the initiative group "No robbery!" and the movement "Arise, Armenia!" Both protest actions resulted in detentions of activists. After the release of their activists from the police station, participants of the first protest action marched through the centre of the Armenian capital, demanding to release detained activists of the movement "Arise, Armenia!" While the demonstrators reached Republic Square, the police released all the detainees.
The participants of the match organized by the initiative group "No robbery!" were escorted by more than 100 policemen, as well as about a dozen police cars, including three emergency vehicles, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The demonstrators marched through the central streets of Yerevan, from Bagramyan Avenue to Republic Square. During the march, no clashes and conflicts between demonstrators and policemen were recorded.
The activists of the initiative group "No robbery!" have announced their intention to hold a rally-match on September 11 at Freedom Square with the demand to cancel the decision on the increase in the electricity tariff.
